I’ve seen this misconception amongst small business owners in this part of the world several times: a website for their business is superfluous. The trend is definitely changing, but far slower than it should be. In 2017 I’m still asked to convince clients why they need a website or why they need to revamp their decade-old website. The reason for this generally revolves around there being no tangible ROI to a website.
Here’s what I tell every client as to why their business needs a website:

There’s no dearth of businesses in the UAE. It’s extremely rare to come across someone that’s providing something truly unique. In order to make an impact in the market, you serve you have to establish credibility. In this day and age, the first place a prospective client is going to do is look for your website and judge you based on that. No website will make it impossible to trust. An old website will indicate a business that’s behind the times. A great website ensures credibility and the ability to do business.
2. Maintain connection with customers
Doesn’t matter who your customer base is, they most definitely are online and could possibly look at your competitors. Having an online presence helps you keep your website as updated as possible and in turn, keeps your existing and prospective clients updated as well.
3. Communicate better
If you’re a business that offers too many products or complicated services, then a good way for prospective customers to learn about what you do or sell is through comprehensive content on your website. It can be in the form of videos or just text. You can easily drive traffic to your website for your customers to gain more information and a better understanding.
4. Exhibit your work
Every business needs a portfolio of work to show off to gain new customers. Your website is the best place to showcase your most recent and best work to highlight your skills and show off your high-profile clientele. If nothing else, this part of your website makes the entire investment worth it.
5. Better customer acquisition & service
Every business needs marketing. Traditional channels are far too expensive and digital marketing is way more targeted and offers a much better ROI. Without a website though, it’s impossible. SEO and Google Ads allow a business to be front and center to its prospective customer base that is actively looking for businesses like it.
To conclude, time and technology wait for no one. If you’re still stuck in a mindset opposing digital change, it’s high time you move on and make yourself a brilliant, informative website for your business.
